I'd get whatever you find for a good price. Im a fan of 545, cheap and low recoil.

    7.62

5.45 is randomly unavailable and 5.45 mags are hard to get sometimes.

I like 5.45x39 myself but I understand the ammo availability would be flakey at times.

I keep finding EG 5.45x39 tan/brown mags for sale cheap at the gun shows. I bought a CUR 2 about a year ago for 400 with 4 EG mags, then I foiund a dealer at the show selling a pile of them for 10 bux (bought 8 I think, all he had) and just last weekend, I found 2 more for 20 dollars total.

I think I have about 24 of those mags, I should be set for a while.

    Still not cheap.

When 7.62x39 can be had for under 200 a case with sales tax or shipping included, then I will be happy.

Those $250 kits? I've seen a few and they look brand new. I imagine the price will continue to drop for 74 stuff. Mags are down to $12 again.

Anyone see sidefolders and 105 gas system parts back around yet?

Some company was offering them with original barrels for $250 plus mags for $10 if you bought a kit. APEX has $245 kits with a new US barrel.

    Interesting....

Talk to me Keesh. Those "US Made" tubes, think these are the same as the GM tubes that were floating around with fucked up twists?

That parts kit..... it looks like it has the 105 sight/gas block assembly pictured. Besides the receiver/stock assembly (and talking more about the front end), what would I be missing to build this:

These are older kits so they wont have a 105 block/sight. As far as I know, those bbls are good to go, except for the fact they have no chrome lining. I can dig up some more info about the 105 clones when I get home. i dont hve all my bookmarks on my phone now

How important is chromelining on a AK? I'd imagine all older ammo is corrosive?

Just about all older ammo is corrosive, not a big deal if you clean fairly quickly after shooting. Wolf is good to go for 7.62x39, and will be cheaper than just about any surplus.
