So I think I read a thread here a while ago about how there are diffrent versions of this knife. Which one is 'teh win'? Is the automatic one a spring assist, or how does it work?

Last, where are you guys getting these from?

I'm pretty sure one is automatic, not spring assisted, and the other one is just a regular folder. I'm not positive though.

What is the diffrence? Automatic means you push a button, where spring assist means a spring helps pull it out?

I believe spring assist means you start moving the blade out and the spring moves it out the rest of the way. The AK-74 knife, all you do is press a button.

And according to that bladHQ website, if you buy one of their automatic knifes you have to prove that you're legal to own one unless you reside within the state of Utah.

Thunderbear, how did you get yours? I'm thinking of getting just the regular boker magnum off that website for an edc.

add to cart -> checkout -> shipped -> received. :mamoru:

I'm pretty sure if your address is in a known communist state, they probably won't ship it to you. Other than that, the responsibility is on you. I might get another one, unless I decided to drop coin on a Benchmade auto.

I would really like one, but dont want to get in trouble if its illegal, I googled and could not find anything conclusive to basically buying a switchblade

You can buy it, and take the spring out when you carry it. When the spring is out, the button just works like a safety so you have to press it before you open it.

You can always put the spring back in too.

It's a nice knife. Sharp as hell, mine is dull right now but I've used it a lot, just needs to be sharpened.

If you want the one with the spring make sure that's what you are ordering. I thought I ordered the auto one and it ended up being the normal one, still a really cool knife, it's in my pocket right now.
