I'm pretty versed in php and mysql, but I hate java script and I've never done anything with ajax, have you? I'm looking to incorporate some ajax features at http://legendofsix.com but I can't seem to find any really small examples to learn from. anyone have links to a good tutorial?

Javascript is very useful. I've done a lot of programming with it recently and it can add a lot of functionality to a website and if utilized properly it can save you bandwidth and server processing.

    http://www.w3schools.com/ajax/default.asp
i used that to learn.. i was rather new to javascript when i learnt it but i did have a very good grip on php.

Can't say I have programming experience, I use controls in visual studio with Ajax. Seems to work very well.

You should use one of the popular Javascript libraries like Prototype (with Scriptaculous for effects) or jQuery (which has lots of plugins for bloody everything). Simply using them will teach you good AJAX conventions and style.

I can't say I know of many tutorial sites for it. I learned by finding sites that did something I liked, and looking at the source. I guess w3schools would be fine.
