I love black boots. Suede boots just don't look as nice. Hopefully they will allow a choice.

Exactly. You will get some flight line guys come in here complaining about how much they work, and how the chemicals make it impossible to keep their boots shined, but we all deal with keeping our boots in good shape. In my opinion a person that spends the time each night putting their uniform and boots together so that they look their best each day, regardless of what their job is, goes along way towards saying what type of person they are.

I can understand with flightline guys but everyone should have a backup pair they keep looking like glass they can change into if the ever need to. Everything else about the uniform sounds great

Marines and Soldiers that work flightline seem to maintain uniform standards. Does the Air Force maintenance UFO's with some special corrosive material that makes kiwi not stick to leather? Pride in how a person looks in uniform says a lot about that person.

The flight line isn't the only career field in the military that deals with fluids.

In maintenance, the guys with the shiney boots are usually the dirtbags. Those are the guys that are more concerned with being pretty than doing their fucking job.

jet fuel and diesel fuel can take wax off boots real good, but I have a pair of worn out, "shit kickers" that I wear at work w/ my coveralls and a pair of boots that I shine atleast once a week to wear when I actually go somewhere

ahhhhhh, this whole new uniform thing is so stupid. The marines come out with a new uniform and the army gets jealous. The army comes out with a new uniform and the air force gets jealous. bdus were still tactical... more so than my bluish, greenish, tanish, greyish uniform that i wear now.

I hated shining my boots. But I was real good at it. I used to shine my dad's shoes when he was in the Navy. Learned how to spit-shine when I was 8 years old. :o
