I don't think they've started the whole 8 1/2 week thing yet. They just said that they're gonna. But youre right about the gun and the no folding of shirts.

proof of that....all the information from my recruiter...and info on about.com says its 6.5?

:edit: theres no way thats already implimented ...the date of that was 2.10.06...they cant change something like that overnight

"According to Chief Master Sergeant Steve Sergeant, superintendent of Air Force Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, these changes are just the start. In the future, the Air Force wants to add a 7th week to basic training. Unfortunately, because of funding, and the requirement to build additional facilities, the earliest this could happen is in 2008."

    i'm pretty sure it's not
last year they said they wanted to add a week to AF basic, but it wouldn't take effect until 2008 because they had to build new facilities; instead they chose to add 2.5 weeks, so i doubt it's gonna be 8.5 weeks for some time

what about electric shavors...ive heard they are harder to keep clean but im worried if i use a regular blade...as i know the water wont always be nice and hot it will make my face break out like crazy and then bleed like hell when i shave ...and my dad already told me to be carefull not to get blood on my towels since that will be a quick demerit

When i went through basic the water was always warm, and we were even allowed to have 5-15 minutes showers.. depending on the day.
About the church thing. he was right, it really is one of the few chances to just breathe..
and to be terribly honest, i liked basic, I thought it was easy.. just do as your told, and even if it seems stupid do it..

    What the fuck.

This forum was created because every military thread in the main forum would result in an instant gangbang by the assholes that troll the military crew. THIS forum is different. Here we respect each other, and ESPECIALLY the new recruits asking for help and advice. :madfawk:

Read the fucking forum rules. Don't clusterfuck threads like this, especially when the thread starter isn't being a dumbass and is only asking honest questions relating to his decision to join the military.

Sub-forum bans have/will be handed out for repeat offenders.

Don't let a couple of dumbass replies stop you. I was serious about the bans, and this forum has many lurkers that would benefit from any well thought-out replies to your questions.

By the way - PepsiShine spoke the truth (as far as we know it). You are the first that I have heard that had any evidence that shows AF basic hadn't been extended. Everything I have seen says AF basic has been revamped to be more physical and more in-line with a warrior mentality (or as close as you will get with AF basic training).

ya...if it has been i cant see any proof where it HAS been extended...i know it says they want to but thats gotta take alot to extend something like that

i do know however they have restructured the normal 6.5 weeks...as they moved warrior week from 5 to 4 and you spend the first 3 weeks doing all your combat training ect to prepare for that..and then the last 2 weeks is apperently where you get all your classroom training

but ...its definitely going to be weird to have to carry around an m16 all the time :hs:

on a side note im kinda happy its like that though....i say the more combat training the better

Increasing basic to 8.5 weeks has been approved but not implemented. You just can add two weeks to a training program overnight. Various things like training plans need to be developed, task/conditions/standards need to be approved, and funds need to be made available.
