I took it last night, and scored an AFQT of 90. I called my recruiter with the results (Active duty Air Force) and he told me that since I scored so high and worked so hard to drop the necessary weight to get in (210 in January, 180 as of this morning) that he won't fight me at all when it comes to job selection.

Problem is, I still have no idea what I want to do. I've checked out some of the links in the EDU thread, and I see some jobs that interest me, but I can't seem to narrow it down.

I have a meeting with my recruiter Tuesday, and I'd like to come in with about 6-7 different options.

    Interested in the following fields:

    1C - Command & Control Systems Operations
    1N - Intelligence
    1A - Aircrew Operations
    2G - Logistics Plans
    2E - Communications & Electronics
    2M - Missile & Space Systems Maintenance
    3C - Communications & Computer Systems

Information obtained from the following link:

If I recall the Air Force recruiters have no real control over jobs available. I think it is the MEPS station, where the AF Liaisons are that has control. Arlington, TX? So you went to the Dallas MEPS? Or did you take the test elsewhere?

BTW nice score. And good job on the weight.

    Other location :o

I went up to Blue Ash, OH to test at the ANG base. I haven't gone through MEPS yet, the recruiter still wants me to get down to 175, the required weight for 5'7.

My recruiters where able to look at jobs available to me before I went to MEPS since I had already taken the ASVAB . Much easier to do it that way since the first Army counselor was a fucking dick to me when I went to MEPS the first time.

You should be able to get down to that weight. Just take care of it and keep positive. What are you looking into?

CCT or PJ are relatively easy tech schools, should check one of those out.

wtf is the AFQT? The ASVAB or AFOQT? But seriously, if you're looking at enlisted the satellite ops really is where its at.

point is if you join the airforce, you're a pog, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you're still a pog.

I'm not really looking for the easy tech school. I'm looking for something that will allow me to obtain a good civilian job when I get out (I think a few have mentioned satellite ops).

Yeah it's been relatively easy to drop the weight.

I'm looking into pretty much anything on that list. I'm just trying to get some insight about some of those jobs so I can narrow this stuff down.

1C will screw you for the duration of your enlistment. Command post blows chunks, have a wack ass schedule, and it's boring as all fucking hell. 1N is also fucking boring as hell. 1A, well, I'm maintenance, I hate fucking aircrew with a passion, to the point that if a plane crashes, the only thing I'm upset about is the equipment loss. 2G, STAY AWAY!! FAR FAR AWAY!! 2E, GO FOR IT! Big time money on the outside, and not a bad job at all while you're in. 2M....if you get the space portion of it, cool as hell, if you get the missile portion of it, well, have fun living in a silo underground for a good portion of the year. 3C, again, GO FOR IT. Once again, high paying jobs on the outside abound for that.

 I appreciate the info and insight. I have a friend at Nellis who is 1Asomething (can't remember :o ) and he hates aircrew also.

This is what I qualify for and what is available to me that I listed for myself:

    4R031-Diagnostic Imaging
    4J032-Physical Therapy
    3C231-Communications Computer Sys. Control
    2E231-Elec. Computer and Switching Sys.
    3C031-Communications Computer Sys Progrm
    2A532-Helicopter Maintenance
    3E731-Fire Protection

So 2E and 3C would be cool? What about the 4-series stuff, health and such?

For 2E/3C I have the following options other than what was listed above:
    2E632-Communications Cable Systems
    2E633-Telephone Systems
    2E132-Meteorological and Navigational Sys
    2E133-Ground Radio Communications
    2E134-Visual Imagery and Intrusion Detection
    2E031-Ground Radar System
    3C031-Communications Computer Sys Ops.
    3C131-Radio Communications Sys
3C331-Comm. Computer Sys. Plan. and Implement

So when it comes to 2M, how do they decide who gets what(space/missile?)?

Sorry Son of Scottwax, didn't mean to divert some attention, but I figured since the jobs offered and that I mentioned might reflect on you a little, since you have some interest there, maybe the answers I get will help you out! :)
