Treadmills are for weinies...run outside and run fast. If you're not dry-heaving, then you aren't running fast enough.

I hope the PT Test on the treadmill is just something to help you train and not actually considered when calculating your score. If the latter is the case, then a 21 is horrible.

75 and above is 'Good' aka passing score.

that treadmill tells you squat. The AF test includes timed pushups, situps, waist measurements, height check(but not scored on), factors in age, and then you have your running portion.

I got a 84.5 my first try. passing isn't as hard as they made it sound. the run is the hard part especially on a 100 meter track. 15 times around. I lose count about 6 and get tired of the same scenery. luckily it's indoors, although I'd prefer a 400 meter track so I would have something better to base my time off of. less than 2 min a lap and I'd be golden. I still can't figure out for the life of me the max lap time on the 100 meter track.

supposedly at FTX it is harder because of the change in climate and elevation. truth?

u dont take a pft at ftx actually. ftx doesn't even exist anymore if ur talking about that field training exercise that you go on while your at field training. ftx has been renamed flx field leadership exercise. you do however take the pft numerous times while at field training and the elevation is only an issue if you go to an ellsworth encampment. if you go to tyndall or maxwell then u dont have to worry about elevation being a problem.

Wish they'd let me use the treadmill for the test, I could max the run easy.

If they would let me omit waist and weight I would be in the high 90s. Instead I am in the high 70s. In my opinion if I can do what I can do at 200+ I should get extra points. I know I COULD lose 20lbs but I would have to starve myself to do it and I STILL wouldn't have a small enough waist for fit test standards. That is all I have to say about our bullshit PT test.

I was in the Air Force when most of you were in diapers. We ran in combat boots. My feet were beat to shit by the time basic was over.

    Treadmills?
