When I close my laptop AOL Instant Messenger logs off. I tried everything in control panel with the lid settings. Why is it doing this?

Yeah, its going into sleep mode. I could choose do nothing when closing the lid but I want it to ask for a password when opening the lid and when I choose do nothing it doesn't ask for one.

    I have Windows Vista Home.

Thats your problem. When your computer goes into sleep mode, it turns off your internets. This is causing AIM to log you off. Tell your computer to do nothing when you close the lid and then set your screen saver for a minute and have that require a password.
