My 2.0 ghz MBP came with 512 and im always using 100% of it even with just a few programs running. Whats the best and cheapest option to upgrade to 1 or 2 gb? Thanks for any input :hsd:

I recently purchased and installed 2GB of OWC RAM into my MBP. It's not the cheapest, but at $230 for 2GB, I'd say it's reasonable. You can get 1GB modules for around $80ea, however compatibility wouldn't be guaranteed. I always prefer to stay with a trusted brand when purchasing RAM.

P.S. Corsair RAM, although traditionally a good choice, is rumored to have spotty compatibility with MBP's. I purchased my RAM here. Being a Mac noob, I've never heard of them, but many here stated that they have a good reputation for selling quality products for macs.

I've used Crucial and Corsair for years and never had an issue with any of their memory. You can usually get stuff cheaper than Corsair or Crucial but its not worth it.

Thanks for all the help guys. Is it bad to mix a 1 gig module with a 512 module on the Pro? I dont think I need 2 gigs, but would like to have more than 1 gig.

Its best to match both sticks. There is a really good technical reason for it with dual procs and/or DDR2 but I'm drawing a blank. I think it has to do with the way the memory is addressed, but I could be mistaken (too much other shit in my head right now :hs: ).
