Work called me in to help unload a truck last night. It was an 1800 piece truck, with most boxes weighing 60-80 lbs. I was on the truck unloading the boxes onto the portable conveyor and there were 3-4 people down the line that were sorting the boxes and processing them. I managed to keep the line full even though there was 1 of me putting them on the line and 4 of them taking them off .

Anyways, of all the things that hurt the most, my grip is fucked. I have a hard time holding my mouse because a lot of the boxes were too big/awkward to carry normally so I had to grip them. My back feels like it got worked pretty good, too. Not to mention my quads and knees from all the deadlifting.

I guess the point of this thread is, I feel like I get more accomplished from doing actual work instead of just working out. :o By the time we finished last night I was at the point where it was almost physically impossible to carry a box with my arms. I rarely work to that extreme at the gym. I think it's time to start doing so. :o

it's the awkwardness of doign actual lifting rather than grabbing a bar.

doesn't help that he did one set of 1800 reps =P

  4. Same thing happened to me when I signed on to a moving company, although I didn't have 1800 boxes to move. :eek3:

Kohl's. But it wouldn't surprise me if Walmart recieved similar shipments since we sell a lot of the same stuff.

The thing is, I don't want it to be just "ok." I think a lot of it is patience. It really takes a some time to wear your muscles down to failure. Sure you could do 3-4 sets with heavy weights, but chances are if you wait 5 minutes or so, you can do one or more sets. Then if you waited even longer you can probably still do more. At that rate you could be at the gym all day. :hs: I think the reason why I got so worn down as that I was constantly lifting for 4-5 hours straight. :hs:

Just walk into any commercial gym and look at the people lifting. Most people are content to just dick around with some weights, think they accomplished something, and wouldn't know hard work if it kicked them in the ass. Hell I even get complimented on how I bust my ass on occaison and I'm nowhere NEAR the intensity of people at a place like Westside or LA.

what about all the who could lift to failure until they physically are unable to lift a full rep anymore, and still feel perfectly fine in an hour.

About a month ago I started work on a patio in my backyard. I went to pick up the concrete at Lowes and my friend who was supposed to help couldn't make it so I wound up unloading 60 80lb. bags by myself. Moved them from the truck about 10 ft into the garage.

    Whats that supposed to mean?

I was just saying I train like an animal compared to the average people in my gym, but I'd be a bitch at any REAL gym.
