What do the 3rd party drop-in barrels offer over the stock barrel. I've read about Bar-Sto barrels, and I'm curious how much of an improvement they are over the stock barrels of a Glock or XD? Has anyone on here purchased an after market barrel?

no improvement other than the threaded ones :) (more length, technically, and suppressor addition will function as a barrel, increase velocity and slight POI shift)

The big benefit with a lot of aftermarket drop-ins for Glocks is that they are more hand-loader friendly. They have traditional rifling so you're able to use cheap lead bullets, and the chambers are usually fully supported, so you don't have the brass deformation issues that you can get with high pressure cartridges in stock Glock barrels.

Unless you shoot in events or want to put a can on it not worth it IMO.
