I broke down and ordered my first DSLR, nikon D50.. My Canon A95 was just not doing it for me and I wanted to take up photography as a hobbie (cars get too expensive).

Was going to order from butterfly photo, but noticed a lot of bad reviews on that resellerratings website, so I went with a site I have used before (newegg). Price seemed fair ($10 less than B&H) so I gave in and ordered it with 1 gig ultra SD memory. I don't think I got ripped off, the total was $701 shipped 2 day priority to my door.

I can't wait. Mainly to open it and just have no idea what I am doing, but also to learn.

I know the kit lens lacks, but since I am new I think it will do fine for a while. But once I learn it, i have no idea what lens to get then.

(and dear god, no "should have gotten the d70, no lcd light, extra knob" comments;) )

I'm also a recent owner of D50. I got the body and 50mm 1.8 lens, Nikkor 18-200mm VR is on my list of things to get next.

    I've had my D70s for 3 days. Coming from a Sony P&S.

Although I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm having much more fun taking photos with the DSLR than with the P&S. :)
