    **Update**

Now Floyd Mayweather wants some action on July 11 as well. Nothing set in stone, but wtf if true.

    :run:

    http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2009/03/19/floyd-mayweather-could-also-look-to-take-on-ufc-100/

    http://mmamania.com/2009/03/18/affl...-third-mma-event-opposite-ufc-100-on-july-11/

I think this writer got it right. They can't possibly hope to make money on the same night as UFC 100...to schedule their third event as counter-programming really does seem more like a 'fuck you' than a sensible strategic scheduling decision.

What can they possibly hope to gain by hosting their event the same night as what is expected to be the UFC's biggest event to date??

I'd love to see them try to take on UFC 100.

What an epic failure that would turn out to be.

Could you imagine them running against UFC 100 with their shitty promoting of their events.

Most people wouldn't even know there was an Affliction event let alone if it was free or not.

It's kinda fucking the fans too. I don't give a shit about what the organization is called, if it's promoting a good fight I want to watch the event.

No matter which event you decide to watch that night, you'll be missing out.

I'll probably end up getting Affliction from the tractor later, but it's always more fun to watch the event live.

they'd be much better off just putting a good product together and not going head to head on the same night as a UFC ppv.

why are these guys still trying to go head to head with UFC?

why can't these guys concentrate on their own show, you know you can't run without walking first.

Stupid idea to try and prove a point. I'll pay for ufc100 and DVR the affliction card even if it's free.

I won't pay for both and the affliction card isn't going to pull me away from the UFC card.

I think this is part of the reason why Affliction won't be around for long. They're waay too caught up with directly competing with the UFC, instead of focusing on doing their own thing.

It seems like a bad idea, but I am sure someone brought this up. They most likely have the some of the best in the world working for them, they know what they are doing.

Well if this is how they want to end their chances, it's a perfect time. I like affliction and the past cards they've put on, but this would be a stupid fucking move.

Doubt they'll actually do it. Would be incredibly stupid.

As for the whole UFC vs Affliction shit, I feel like had Dana not actively set up events to take away Affliction's viewers for their first and second shows, Affliction wouldn't even consider this retarded move.

Again, I don't know the history between the two but it seems to me that Dana as the big fish in MMA promotions is the one trying to push Affliction out of the picture, not the other way around.

I think the first event back fired on Dana, more people tuned into Affliction because their was a free UFC on. I thought it worked out great.
