A&P AF-S Nikkor 50 f/1.4G v.New Thriddy Fiddy??

    More elements, though they look to be smaller, but with AF-S :coolugh: And it looks like they might have tried new coating to deal with flare and CA…Heavier and larger Diameter (58 vs 52)..


    Anyone used one yet? I am curious. Mine is starting to get a lot of slop and of course it’s noisy…

    New one performs much better across the MTF chart. Although the sigma one appears to be sharper...

    I'll stick with my 1.4D for a while probably, at least till the price drops on the new one.

    Sigma option is more expensive? $50 more at that? That's new isn't it? I thought they were the budget competition?

    I am very interested in seeing the performance difference now. Sigma option is way bigger. Almost twice the weight and considerabley wider at the front element.

    Either way that's a lot of fucking money for the lens :hs:

    Like I said, the Sigma is actually sharper across the board compared to the Nikon. The front element IS huge though, although the 77mm filter size is kinda nice in that it's more of a "standardized" size.

    :werd: My brother has a d40 and he just drove an hour and a half because the shop told him they have the new 50 1.4 in stock... of course when he gets there... "oops my bad, its the regular 50 1.4 :mamoru:"....

    the sigma is sharp? my camera store has one thats been sitting a while, how is it compared to http://www.adorama.com/ISO5014D.html
    its more expensive but why?
