If you had to pick a special duty, which one would it be?

I am going to work to get in shape for the JCU special duty, but if they wont take me I might have to look at a more conventional special duty.

See my career is constrained right now, and I may not get a CJR to re-enlist.
I want to stay in, but I don't want to cross-train. A SD is one way around this problem. The only one I don't qualify for is PME instructor (must be E6 I think).

JCU supports the special unit that doesn't exist on the back side of Bragg.

I LOVE my job. A SD will only last so long. After my SD is over, I go back to my old careerfield.

that sounds really interesting.. is there an actual course upon entry, like there is if you want to join the special forces or the rangers for example, or is it just that their "mission" and training once in the unit differs from traditional comm units? and do they take officers?

I ask because this kind of stuff is exactly what interests me.. I am in the equivalent of the comm trade in the canadian forces and I know we have tons of opportunities to go to the states and elsewhere for training.. I guess otherwise I could ask for it in terms of it being an international exchange for a few months.

ill try looking for some more references on this...

JCSE stands for Joint Communications Support Element. It is comprised of Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines. We do not have any other Armed Forces in the unit.

yes, I am a 3C2, E-4, I do have a line number and no I cannot get an assignment to JCSE. I talked to our Chief, (Andrews?) and he put me in contact with the "recruiter". The "recruiter" told me that I had to wait for an assignment on AFPC to volunteer for. He said (two months ago) that the assignment would be posted in a week or so. I checked every day and only recently have seen the JCSE assignments for TSgts. None for SSgt, or SrA.
If you know anyone there that can help me out, any help would be appreciated.
