Does anyone know if this is plausible? I Palace Chased about 8 months ago, and I'm realizing I kind of made a mistake.

Probably depends on your career field.

You leave Active Duty early and finish your enlistment in the Reserves

It's not the reserves that's so bad. I just miss being on active and stationed overseas.

If you are flightline (maintenance), you can be an ART or on Active Duty status as a Reservist.

As for other career fields; hell if I know.

You can still do it now.

I have (and am still) considered it a few times.

Can always go TTF until picking up an ART slot or just ride out TTF.

Pretty sure it's a reservist who is on Active Duty orders.

    I think?

We have a buncha them in my squadron. Especially in my shop.

Oh, they also get treated better (along with ARTs) since they can "quit." :ugh2:

I chatted with a recruiter online at airforce.com and they said the only fields open to all prior service are: SERE, Combat Control, Pararescue, and EOD.....

I have never heard of anyone actually quiting TTF before their orders were over.

I think I might see if I can cross train in the reserves to loadmaster and become an ART

The air force has to fill a quota of 13,000 slots over the next fiscal year. That was my understanding. I don't see why you can't go from guard back to active.

Also its my understanding that you can find a new unit and if they have a job opening you can crosstrain into that career field. If i'm wrong someone please direct me in the right direction.
