This is the nicest XK Commander in existence IMO... for those not familiar with it, see here:

    http://www.aev-conversions.com/Iceland.html

Anyway - here's some pics they sent me - pretty damn sweet but unfortunately they won't be offering the fenders on that vehicle. The high clearance TJ fenders I want will be out in 6 weeks :)

    Anyway - enjoy the pics

That fawker sits on top of 12 ft of snow... it seems to get by fine without the tracks..

Mattracks take the fun out of it in a way because it's almost impossible to get stuck... they just go up and over everything.

5.7L Hemi + 39" tires would be a whole lot of fun :big grin:

Unfortunately - they have decided there is not a significant demand in the USA for 40" tires on a Commander - and they are too busy with 5.7 Hemi swaps and the highline fenders for the TJ. Plus the Wrangler's replacement will require their attention soon.

The fenders that are on this vehicle will be available in about 6 weeks though:

Pricing is rumoured on the Rubicon forums to be over $2,000 for the sheet metal (new fenders and hood) plus the 4 flares. Officially it hasn't been confirmed yet.

I'm very tempted to put them on mine if I can get some money back from selling my standard AEV hood to another Jeeper plus sell the original hood and fenders to someone that's had an accident. Over 2k plus shipping plus paint is a lot of coin, but if I can get most of it back I should be able to run 37" tires without any additional instability.

Im unimpressed with its ability to traverse 6 inches of perfectly groomed and packed snow.

Haha yeah... I'd keep a Bivi bag or two spare to strap to the roof if needs be.

That's one thing I love about the paint on the Jeep... it really stands out... and I can light up a Heli pad at night :big grin:

Well... the Mattracks are the only major thing that was supposed to happen and didn't... and that's through no fault of my own. They weren't approved for road use and I don't want a trailer queen.

I got bit by the Just Empty Every Pocket when my bumper shipping was double the estimate and then all 5 tires and the trackbar and disconnects needed replacing so right now everything else I want has taken a back seat to everything I need, so it all becomes "some day". Had to replace the Laptop too and living in the real world comes with a ton of bills. Can't wait to start work in July.

I've tried to avoid the "some day" obsessions but after EJS or Sema it's difficult :big grin:
