Advice to start on C++

    Any advice or good books you can recommend? (I want to learn how to program games) :)

    C++ for dummies. :hs:

    They do a great job of explaining the basic concepts and moving into IF, Then and more complex nested if's. Then going into Array's and even higher concepts. :)

    what would be a good book for me to get? ive taken a year of java programming so i know the basics of structured programming, but i dont know c or c++. the deitel book i have is ok, but id like to get something better. any suggestions?

    The Complete Reference C++ : Third Edition
    By Schildt.

    Hands down the best C++ reference book I ever saw, the later editions were a bit lacking. You can get it cheap at amazon as well.

    Starting Out with C++ Third Edition by Gaddis is pretty good as well.
