    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13918/1006; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

Start with a lightly used prosumer camera, kit lens, and a good flash. Add lenses after you learn what you like to shoot most.

    buy used

for 500, on black friday you MAY be able to get one of the entry-level nikon or canon bodies (though i wouldnt recommend the nikons the Dxxxx series in general isn't very good if you're planning on doing more than just a couple snaps of family, travel, etc)

    canon 30d and a 50mm 1.8 would be a good start

    or an 18-55 kit lens
