I want to buy a Colt 1911 and spend the least amount as possible. I don't care if it's old and has bad wear. Do I just need to browse forums for one to pop up? There wouldn't happen to be any LEO depts that still trade these things in would there? Any help?

Why does it have to be a colt? If you want a cheap 1911 why not a RIA?

Damn a guy on the local forum is selling a Colt from 1918 for $1050, looks like its in really good condition. Might have to offer him 900 and see if he'll budge

I really want a WW2 era 1911. But for a shooter I want an STI.

I inherited my grandfather's WWII era Remington Rand 1911 after he passed away. It's been awhile since I've shot it since it's still in his safe out in Nevada, but I was just curious if anyone had any idea on the value of it. That gun is invaluable to me and I would never think of selling it, just for what it means to me, but I was curious if anyone knew anything about those?

Sorry to side track your thread, I'd say check forums, especially ones for local to your area or state. Gun Broker might have something pop up...other than that, maybe you could luck out at a pawn shop?

My scheme for cheap WW2 blasters is to marry a girl who's grandpa was in the war and inherit all his old shit :x:

I went out with a girl this summer and it was kind of boring until she brought up her family's land in the UP. I was pretty drunk and blurted out "you shoot out there?". To my suprise she said of course and the conversation turned to her grandpa's Ariska battlefield pickup. Needless to say I fell in love :o

The GI and mil-spec models are both available in stainless as well...

Spend a few bucks more and get the mil-spec. They have a few extra features that you will probably want (lowered/flared ejection port, beveled magazine well, polished ramp, better sights with a replaceable front sight)

First gun I ever shot was an old WWI era Springfield 1911; freaking awesome weapons. I haven't shot anything since that felt the same.

And putting "cheap" in the same sentence with 1911 just doesn't work. They just aren't.
