so far, looks like an impressive start. i've played w/both apps (got my wife aperture for xmas)....aperture's definitely more polished, but for a public beta (which is so strange since Adobe NEVER does that), this looks like it'll be a real contender.

Adobe said that when the are launching a product like this aimed at a very specific market, they want users to give them feedback for development...someting a rival company doesn't do...

    basically a job at apple...

oh i know...but it's still so out of character for them...and free certainly beats $500 for most people, so they're stealing mindshare.

its meh. I like capture one better, but I haven't used aperture too much yet. All the reviews seem to say the same thing about it too. Great starting point, but just not quite there yet.

that and you need 20398420934832 gigs of ram to use it
(though I did the hack to use it on the ibook with 512mb of ram :mamoru: )

just installed it, its pretty sweet! Seeing as I can't get photoshop to edit RAW files, this works perfectly!

From the screenshot I like Apple's interface better.

But this is a Beta, so it might be tweaked.

    Its for processing RAW photos.
Much like CaptureOne, Rawshooter essentials, etc.

I need to sit down and play with it. There is already another beta release for it out but I haven't gotten to it yet. I played with it for about 2 seconds trying to import a pic but I didn't have much time. Perhaps a little later I"ll open it up and mess around with it.
