is they any way to put an address bar on the desktop without dragging it from the taskbar. i don't want the little tab on top of other windows...i want the address bar as part of my background. i looked at microsoft's site and it said something about going back to internet explorer 4 and restarting the computer a bunch of times.

Right-click on the taskbar and select Address
Drag it where ever you want it
Right click on it and make sure Always On Top is NOT checked

Works for me on both my 98 and XP Home machines
It will move your icons down a bit to make room for the bar but other than that it's stays behind a full screen window

That's what I thought too but I figured he tried that and was referring to something else...

if he was, he didn't explain it very well
If that's not what he's looking for then I missed something in what he was talking about

are you saying you want an address bar in your wallpaper? you can set HTML pages as your background with Active Desktop. so you can make an HTML page, put a little form in it to type in the address with a little javascript script to open up that address
