I'm considering adding an AR-15 to my arsenal...

I don't know much about them though, the threads on AR-15 are hardly a substitution for hands on experience...

    I'm looking at either:
    Factory RRA CAR A2 16" w/ A2 Stock: 710$
    w/ 6 pos stock: 735$

    OR

RRA Upper + Standard RRA Lower w/ 6 pos stock: 640$

I don't know if either come with a carry handle... I'm just not sure on exactly how confident i would be even assembling the two peices :o

Thoughts? Suggestions? This is from a seller on AR-15...

OH and I choose RRA because they seem to be highly recommended, any other brands recommended(bushmaster, colt obviously) or any reason to stay away from RRA?

if you can't put an upper and a lower together, you have problems.... ther are exactly two pins that need to pushed into place. and you're gonna have to take that shit apart to clean it.

The RRA with 6-pos is the best deal. Get the telestocked carbine or you'll do one of three things later -- kick yourself, upgade, or buy another rifle.

Not that i'm not mechanically inclined, or retarded, I've just never done it before.

Butt, My fucker.... It's nothing I couldn't figure out, just something I haven't done, that kind of thing.

We had this discussion in the other post here.. I am in the same boat.. not mechanically inclined, but never done it before.

Watch jarhead they take the pins in and out in the movie :o

$640 would be a good price.. I could almost get one of those and a AK-47 for a Grand :eek3:

When I'm "done" building my arsenal, it will cost under 2500$...

    Glock 19
    Remington 870
    AR-15
    Custom Remington 700 bolt action

For just the rifles it will be under 1500, but optics + accessories will be $$

(working arsenal, does not include show pieces)

Where did you get the prices for the uppers and lowers :x: They seemed higher than where I was looking.

    Cheapest I found was $700 - $450 upper and $250 lower

Yeah, get the RRA w/ the 6-pos telestock. IMHO, that's the best bang for the buck.

    -Upgrade scope
-Upgrade recoil lug and pillar bed
    -tactical bolt knob
-Bolt shroud (to get rid of that stupid ISS lock system)
-HS Precision detachable magazine conversion (ten round detachable boxes) :yum:
-If I don't go with my own paint job it'll be getting some sort of metal coating
-I'll get bored and change stocks eventually
-Was going to get a jewell trigger, but I adjusted it myself a few nights ago. It's SO much better now. No gauge, but I'd guess it's around 2 - 2 1/2 lbs. now.

If my christmas bonus is big enough I might get the paperwork started for a suppressor:run:

add in the stuff I already have:
    the gun itself
    harris bi-pod
    accu-shot monopod
    blackhawk buttstock pouch

shouldn't be hard to get it up there in price:o

Legal-transfers on AR is a good guy, got my lower from him. Assembling an AR is probably easier then disassembling a glock, and that's saying alot as you know. They are very simple weapons that function great. Plus black plastic deserves a Black rifle.

I have a G19, a bushy 16" and an RRA lower trying to decide on the upper I want.
