I am thinking about adding in some extra grip work to my current routine. During back day I think my grip gets tested pretty well, so I was thinking of maybe adding in another day after legs; I am currently using Pur's routine with a few extra things added in.

My dead lift is stuck at 325 because it's all I can hold onto and I don't really want to add straps yet.

What type of stuff can be added in at a regular gym? I was thinking of maybe holding dumbbells until my grip fails and maybe pinching together 3-4 10lb plates until my grip fails. :dunno:

What else can one do at a regular gym for grip?

Chalk I use, which made a bug difference and now I use it on a lot of lifts. Over/under I have tried but it feels really awkward, so I mostly just use double overhand. Does mixed grip make a big difference?

plate pinch holds, DB hex holds, do farmers walks with the heavy DBs at your gym or make your own, get a COC gripper

I didn't actually read the posts. Now that I have, yeah, he seems drunk.

If he's drunk he should be in the main forum. There's enough shit in here to begin with. Being drunk over there actually adds to the coherency of a lot of threads.

When you do those do you just grab a weight and hold it until you can't any longer? Is there a time you should shoot for like people do with reps?

I pick a wait and a time, and do it for reps
like, Hex holds, i'll grab 35's or 45's and hold for 20 seconds and justt repeat this.
Plate pinches the same, grab two quarters or 35's or 45's and hold em together for time, I don't think it's good to train your grip more than twice a week. Some guys have suggested doing ti once every 4 days.

Is there any reason for a non-power lifter to do grip work? I mean, if my grip on deads is limiting me, I'll just start using straps. Is there any other reason to do it?

    Cool, thanks. :)

As far as training grip it would be monday after legs then wednesday is back, so I would be indirectly working grip that day, then on friday there are some wrist curls. Should I not even count the back day and add in grip stuff friday too?

I think I will try it again this week. Do you guys mix up the grip or keep the same over/underhand always?

I know, but an injury back in high school leaves a pretty big discomfort for my right wrist in a supine position, especially when I'm deadlifting.

anything over 285 with double overhand = i'm holding the bar on my fingertips....

with mixed grip I can easily hold 340 (the most i've tried so far) with fully closed hands...

do what you gotta do. I use double overhand for working sets and warmups and mixed for really heavy, and I like it.
