    Have a iMac G3 400mhz running OS X 10.2.8

Has the stock 10gb HDD, want to add a 40gb i have laying around.

The 40gb is already formatted with Windows onboard.

Is there anyway to format this drive to use as a storage HDD on the iMac without using the OSX install CD? i believe HFS+ is the name of the OSX filesystem.

WHen you put the 2nd hard drive in (the 40gb) and set it as a Slave and boot your Mac back up it should see it just fine. In fact, it should see all the data that was on the Windows partition fine. From there you can re-format it if you'd like, or leave it alone.
