I recently got Ad-aware 6.0 after my friends continually told me that people are spying on me, and businesses were tracking where I was going online. After installing it, I used the scanner on it and scanned all of my C drive. Ad-ware found 97 "infected files". A few were spyware but the majority of it was all Ad-ware which I assume lead to pop-ups.
Yesterday I ran the Scan again after I noticed my computer having a bunch of prolonged "duh moments" and It found 8 infected files.
The next day.....Today, I ran the scanner again and found 3 more infected files.
All the previous infected files where quaratined and deleted. Yet I still get more ever day.:rant2:.:rant2:.Anybody got any tips on how to keep the files out for good(with upgrading to a constant ad-watch program)? I'm currently running both Sygate Firwall as well as my Microsoft Windows Firewall.

also run spybot search and destroy (and turn on immunize)

but I would bet that most of the things adaware is finding are tracking cookies which may or may not be a problem at all - you will always get these.

spyware and adware are completely overblown - there are only a few things that should bother you so just relax, this is normal.

if you haven't already, download ad-aware's reflist.ref and replace the existing file.. its like an update, but like mugatu said.. " -relax, this is normal."

Just use the update button in both the programs. It will get the reflists for you.

Yeah most of them are tracking cookies.

most are harmless - just sites keeping track of how often people come and go and what they do on their sites :)
