So, I'm in the market for a new car.

Currently, I drive a 95 Honda Civic, it's got about 360,000km on it. Just starting to run into issues, Rad is gonna go shortly, and I'm starting to have electrical issues.

Basically, the car is about due to be retired, it's given me 11 years of faithful service, and I've beaten the hell out of it.

I'm thinking the Volvo S60 and Acura TL are more or less in the same league. Sporty Sedans, with Manual Transmission. Good handling, can still take the 2 kids in child seats.

The g/f gets the Ford Partners discount (Employee pricing +2%) so the cost of each vehicle is within 1k of each other Figure 40900 for the TL and about 42 for the S60.

The difference is the Financing which is 1.8 for 60 mos on the Volvo, vs 6.75 on the Acura.

I've test driven both, and I like them both ..pretty much equally. The Volvo has a bit more low end torque, but that's about the only difference.
    Thoughts?

The TL is probably more reliable; but the Volvo appeals to me a little more, as a car.

In that price range, you might check out the Infiniti G35 and the Subaru Legacy GT for some variety.

There are also some serious deals going on the Lincoln LS, unfortunate that it's only offered in automatic.

Agreed, check out the G35 and Legacy GT. The other cars will have a more upscale feel most likely, but the Subaru will have more character than any of the cars mentioned in this thread for weekend driving.

I'd suggest test driving all four and weighing your options.

I think the TL would be the best daily-driver/commuter, but as emorphien put it, the Subaru Legacy GT would have the most character and would be a great "fun-to-drive" car for the weekend as well.
