I'm mainly interested in keeping the rain and morning coolness off while attending a gayed-down version of AIT in Alabama. :hs:

I'd say go for the one with the NSN. Somehow the government had to know about it if they gave it a NSN.

If I recall correctly 670-1 authorized ACU field jackets.

Why would those be on the market if they weren't authorized for use?

Who else would buy one other than a mil who wants to be warm?

I preach this so much to guys who wear out a perfect set of gore-tex rain gear every winter using it as cold weather gear. I bet the unit spends thousands replacing stuff that should have been reserved for rainy days. I am on my first set still and it looks new. Long johns, thermals, full BDUs, and coveralls more than do the trick and are a lot less restrictive than gore-tex any day.:squint:

I went surfing through AKO and found this little gem:

I bought it today, along with a pair of Bates M-9 9" Desert Assault Boots. :naughty:

you want to order a dress with a camo pattern?

So is this cross dressing something you've always done or is this something new because you find that 2 ton planetoid t o e s h o e s attractive?

We got issued the Goretex ACU parka but no trousers! Then in their infinite wisdom said that we cannot wear them because of the lack of matching trousers. Are the active duty infantry units this motley? I have a woodland helmet cover, body armor, and LBV. I also have desert mag pouches and other assorted pouches on my vest. Next weekend we have an FTX and in their attempt to make us all uniform they declared no desert items period in addition to no ACU Goretex parkas. That means most of us will be missing quite a bit of gear that is on the pack list. I guess thats why they call it the Nasty Guard.
