I'm working out at the gym doing bicep curls in the lifting area. While doing my curls I notice one dude put a 45 lb plate on one side of the bar and no weight at all on the other side of the bar. He then lays down as if he's going to bench this. I could've easily said something to the guy to stop him but I've seen alot of strange people do all sorts of stupid excercises and techniques. Sure enough the guy is psyched an unracks the bar. The bar of course tips over, weight comes smashing down and lands on another guys foot and bar flies half way across the room. Other guys foot is now messed up bad (probably broken toes in the very least).

How does somebody forget to put weight on both sides of the bar? :eek4:

On what? Go put a 45lb plate on one side of the bar and try to bench it, let me know how that works for you. Especially if you're not expecting it.

damn, sucks to be that guy who got the weight smashed on his foot.
was it a big man who was gonna cream him? lol

on the serious note, ouch. i have incidents like you as well where i see people doing random exercises i never seen in my life. i would go up to them and let them know, but idk if its another form or variation of that specific exercise. its either looking like a complete dumbass or helping one.. its a 50/50 change. go for it?

    that's pretty crazy

I saw some dude BS around thinking he was hot shit by swinging/rocking (not that far tho) a 45 plate on one or two fingers. Then all of a sudden it slipped off his finger and landed on his feet. It broke all of his toes and the blood even ran out through his shoe.

i bet he'll handel weights properly now.

 When I was like 15 I tried setting up for bench presses on my home weight bench. I loaded up one side with like 20 lbs and started to move to the other side to load it up and the fucker flipped over and the empty side of the bar went through the wall . (It was the false-wood panels that were ever-so-popular in the 70's.

Ya maybe you're right... it wasn't 'flying across the room, twirling in the air'... but it does seem like it when it comes crashing down on other equipment. Everybody in the gym stopped what they where doing and went silent. The guy who fucked up was really apologetic and the guy with the broken foot seemed to be more concerned about his foot rather then being pissed off.
