    Oh another note, does not having appreciation for art make somebody a bad photographer?

    like I've said, its not about worshiping every image adams or leibovitz or whoever else made, its about understanding what went into that, how they changed the industry and what they did for the industry.

    So it's not about the final product, its the process and the mark they left? So it is art appreciation more about the artists themselves than the work they do/did?

    I.E. reading an autobiography without pictures of their work? I love autobiographies.

    its both. but art is subjective, and theres a lot of work of famous photogs that I'd never hang up even if they were free. but that doesn't stop me from having an appreciation for how they accomplished what they did and how it effected the industry.

    So how about I appreciate what ansel adams did for the industry and admire the work and effort it took for him to do it, but I'm not a big fan of his prints (the art part). Fair?

    I'm of the mind that old photos aren't great because they're old, I'm not willing to modify my taste and standards just because they were pioneers of the art.
