My only "pro" lens is the 70-200 2.8L
...the Tamron 28-75 2.8 and nifty fifty don't really count :wtc:

    So... these 2

    Canon EF 1.4 USM - $350
    [IMG]

    Canon EF 28mm 1.8 USM - $460
    [IMG]

...or just be friggin balls-to-the wall and get the 50 1.2L :noes:
    $1,460 :hs:

My wallet tells me that the difference in image quality of the 50 1.4 and 1.2 are too minimal to tell...

but my heart says get the 50 1.2... but good god that price :wtc:
Is it REALLY that big of a difference, or are all these 1.2L owners justifying their big purchase with high claims.

I know very un-photographer of me to even QUESTION L lenses

24-70 was my bread and butter lens when I still shot canon.
I wish I had one for my D200 (and yes, I enjoy the 24-70 on a crop body)

clint do yourself a favor and get the sigma 50 1.4. some say the iq rivals the 50L . i loved it on my 5d whebn i had it. much better than the canon 1.4. like by a large margin. Faster Af, better build, far better bokeh, and waaaaaaay sharper.

personally i never really liked the 50mm focal length on my 30d, i much prefer my 85 1.8 over the 50 1.4

    Grab a Sigma 50 1.4

I'm assuming there is a Sigma in LA, so if you do have any focusing problems, you can just drop by and get them bitches to fix it :bigthumb:

I came into here to mention the Sigma 50mm F/1.4 but Al already did. As long as you can manual adjust on your body..which you can. You should be good to go.

The sigma 50 is a good lens but having to get it calibrated is probably a must. The bokeh is nice and sharpness is good if you get lucky and find one without any focusing issues.

I've also had the 28 1.8 and it's a nice lens, focused fast and was sharp but I got rid of it for the sigma 30 1.4. Not really an option for you since you're ff.

Orrr go with the 35L, I much prefer this focal length over the 50 but too bad I just sold one yesterday on fm already.

The 50 1.4 is fantastic. but - everyone loved red rings.
I really want the 35L at some point soon.

You send in the lens to Sigma to get calibrated. They usually recommend sending in your body also so its calibrated to spec on your actual body you use.

Some of the newer bodies have a micro adjust function in camera which allows you to adjust front and back focusing issues upto like 20 lenses or something.
