I was shooting some friends in the middle of the street really early in the morning (danger, it's my middle name) and some guy in a pickup came blowing by, everyone got out of the way just fine but he took out my strobist kit, I was just barely was able to pull the sync cable out so my camera wasn't ripped out of my hands. Tripod was turned into a monopod, umbrella was dirty and ripped up, the flash (suuuper cheap, probably dangerous ebay flash) was perfectly fine cosmetically, but never fired again.

Yeah, so I heard but then I also heard that some HVs were 200-300v. I'm going to multimeter the little bastard just to be safe.

I just made the same purchase, based off of Erotic-Pie's old post. Except I got the X-large Giotto Rocket Blower. And picked up a Nikon SB-28...

    It's gold! :bigthumb:

you can't secure the ebay receivers on the Impact Umbrella Bracket with Swivel Mount and Flash Shoe. unless you decide to just let the receiver hang and use a sync cord.

Ah, I can just put some layers of painters tape on the mount and jam it in, hanging it with the pc cable wouldn't be so horrible if that doesn't work out though.

Seriously thanks for letting me know.

unless your lightstand has something to secure the receivers on to, i see no other way to secure it

If it's made after the mid-90s, I think you'll be safe.
