I'm about to get the 2.0Ghz Macbook with 1gig of RAM for college. This will be my first apple. What do I need to know?

Do I have to start paying for software? or are there torrents availible for Mac?

If you look around, you can find torrents.

you need to know about the issue where it turns yellow (or actually, the white finish rubbs off by the keyboard/mouse area).

Apparently pretty common. I'm going to wait a few more months before i give up my G4 and go for the macbook.

If it happens, Apple will take care of it. I wouldn't worry.

it will happen, and what exactly do you expect Apple to do? Until they come up with a solution, they may just give you another MB with the same deffect?

    fuck...

Apple better have this all better in a few months, thats when I'll be ordering a Macbook hopefully.

And there are tons of torrents for Macs, just look arround and within 10 minutes you can have almost anything you want (as far as I know you can, atleast).

my ibook didnt have that finish issue until 3-4 months of heavy daily use. i kind of anticipated it though since it is plastic. now if it happened to an aluminum powerbook, id be pissed.

Odd, I've had my iBook since December of 2002, and mine has no blemishes, other than a really glossy marking on the touchpad and keyboard, but thats from when I had greasy fingers when typing.

macbook finish is differnent htan the ibook finish (at least on the inside, where the problem occurs). It is unacceptable, aluminum PB/MBP or plastic ibook/MB.

If you don't want the yellowing issue you could always go with the black version, that's what I plan on doing when I get mine here in a few weeks.

right, but I woudl rather wait until they actually fix the damn issue. I'm not always in a position to use a mouse. And besides, I shouldn't have to worry about the finish rubbing off on my brand new notebook :ugh:

btw, internal finish of MB != iBook
