As for memory, Im not sure what to go with? just 2 gb fine for now or just shell out for 4 gb? I just had crucial ballistix in my last rig and they died. I'm using all the old stuff from my old rig for now....or should I just go ahead and shell out money for a Raid card now since I'm starting fresh?

    Thanks in advance.

damn. forgot about the video card. well, i I don't do much gaming. NOne at all really. I quit at Quake 3. ha. I would just like a good one that I can video edit with. I'm sure that'll set me back a few bills. I'm looking at everything as more the best bang for the buck. Is the Q6700 worth the extra loot? If it is, I could pick it up, but I didn't see the value in it.

I would like the best bang for the buck, but not on the conservative level. I like the good stuff.

4gb will be useless unless you're running a 64bit operating system, so stick with 2. For video card, there are some cheaper 8800gts's available with 320mb on them that should do really well for most games.
for ram, I'm a big fan of OCZ. It's inexpensive, performs well and is readily available.

Get the bearlake chipsets, P35 or X38

If you oc, the Q6700 is not worth it. Although it' a g0 stepping, it doesn't have the upward unlocked multiplier of the old QX6700

From what I understand the 8800GT is going to have similar performance to the 8800gts, for less money.

Depends on the parts you will buy.
Full specs on that Antec? How old?

For Quad Core and motherboards with 8-pin CPU power connectors, an ATX12V (20+4 pin Main Connector and 4-pin CPU) will work,... but an EPS12V (24 pin Main Connector and 8-pin CPU) PSU will deliver more juice to the CPU.

Note that there are PSUs that are both ATX12V and EPS12V.

For graphics cards, most modern cards require 18 to 32 amps on the 12V+ rail. If that Antec is only pushing 16 amps, it's not enough.

New graphics card are also shifting to 8-pin (or 6+2 pin) PCI-E while most PSUs are still 6-pin.

    Modern PSUs have this:

I think it's supposed to be next month for the new line.

I'm not sure if that's when they're going to release the 8800gt,
or if that will come sooner.

    It's $30 more for the 640MB 8800GTS.
