a while back i had a 300zx tt vs 98 trans am post and the debate on which one i should get was pretty intense. well just to update yall i ended up getting a white 300zx twin turbo with about 330rwhp. it is pretty fast and handling for the car is just insane, i can take turns faster than any performance car ive ever driven, including the 350z. i think overall the car was a wise choice over the trans am, even though the day after i got it i saw a ws6 roll by me and it looked bad as hell. its a 1990 and everything works on it so im happy :x: .

Yep. Back in the mid 90's, the import cars were really sweet. Supra TT, 300ZX TT, RX-7 TT. All very moddable, all capable of huge amounts of power. And all rear-wheel drive.

Modern imports are nice, but too refined. Not like those older ones, which were really about performance. The modern import cars always try too hard to be refined first, and performers second. :o

IMO you should have got the trans am. Newer car, better looking car (my opinion). I used to love the 300zx back then before i starting driving. Nice cars but it's not something i would want now.

ls1 with true duals and a loping cam.

As if they do, give me the purr of a large engine over the ricey pshhhh...

Dont know much about trans am's, but 300z's are bloody nice, i couldnt beleive how fast a stock twin turbo made it to 180... They are just unbeleivable....

350z's are boring, i even remember reading a comparison on some euro magazine which put the s2000 far ahead of it, and the Z has 75% more engine :p

180? Yea it would have never gotten there in it's stock form. Try more like 155-160ish. Also when stock they are slower then the ls1 t/a and similiar models. Modded they'd kick the shit out of them since they are turbo'd.

Um, modded beat a stock LS1, probably. Modded vs. Modded though..LS1s get pretty nasty with a few mods.

    hes probably refering to kilometers.

But both are nice cars and having had the pleasure of owning a Z28 before I'd also have gone with the 300ZX simply for the the turbos and the fact that its one sexy lil' machine. And boy at 330 rwhp she ain't gonna be no couch potato either.

Yup nice choice. Got another 300zx just today, 1990, 4seater, TT (stock for now:)), purple.

Nice features, good looks and slightly above average performer.

not really. Hot cams don't tend to work well with turbos. Too much overlap for the turbo...blows the intake charge right out the exhaust port.

That's 113 mph. Since when are all imports limited to 113 mph?

Anyways, sweet buy. I was actually looking at 300zx TT's and T/A's a couple of months back, settled on a 99 trans am with 53k miles and a 6 spd / LS1 combo for 12k in mint condition - simply because i wanted lower miles and I couldn't find a good condition 300zx with anything under 75 - 80k for the price I wanted

I put my 92 z Non turbo up to 130mph before letting go of the gas because i was afraid. The car still pulls @ 130mph. I'm sure that the Twin turbo version would easily goes past 160mph.
