About system restore...

    I have XP, and recently got some pretty bad viruses, so im trying to do a system restore. I got to control panel, system, and click on the system restore tab...but i donno where to go from there, how to "start restoring" my computer

    IIRC, It should show you some kind of calendar with dates that you can restore to.

    I just figured it out, but i have no restore points...figured it would do it automatically because i have had this comp for like two years

    Never used it, but I was under the impression that most app installers will create restore points.

    Is/was it turned on?

    The virus may have blown up your restore points.

    You can't use System Restore to recover from viruses. No self-respecting hacker would forget to insert their virus into all of your restore points.

    In fact, you need to turn off System Restore, and thereby delete all of your restore points, if you want to ever have a chance of recovering your machine without reformatting, because as soon as you remove the virus, it will reinstall itself using System Restore.
