the only downside is “mechanical offset”: you must remember that you have to aim at the hair line on a silhouette target to hit between the eyes at 10 yards and less.

he is talking out his ass about something he doesn't fully understand :hsugh:

what he is referring to is that the sights on an Ar-15 are raised above the barrel. As such, at close range, the POA will not equal the POI.

And hoss, that might be a decent rule of thumb, but by 10 yards, the bullet has already risen half the distance to POI

If you REALLY loved your brother you'd spend $400 and get him a new A3 upper.

his gf just got him that 16" last February. he has a 20" upper before and just added the 6 pos stock. i've criticized him about it, but his gf bought it on a wim and didnt know the difference between a2 or a3. his 20" is a a3 and he still used his irons

He could just swap out the upper receiver and keep the barrel and associated parts.

    sortof :o

for example, if you did that on me, you would hit above the middle of my eyes, at ZERO yards. Remember, 25 = 300, so figure at 10 yards, the bullet has already closed the distance b/w the POIL (point of impact line) and POAL (Point of Aim line). If you did the hairline thing at 10 yards, you would hit almost dead center in the forhead.

its cool Hoss, we just joshing you since you don't actually have a built AR :h5:
