a couple nights ago, my powerbook froze and wouldn't restart. the next morning i tried and it worked just fine and has since. however, everytime i turn it on now it goes to a screen where i have to type either "mac-boot" to continue startup or "shut-down" to do that.

how do i stop this from coming up?

reset the program memory (NVRAM). This sometimes happens, it's no big deal. Also startup using your CD, and use disk utility just to verify your disk and repair permissions to be safe.
