Went to stock up on some more bullets. The prices that I saw this morning from a local retail store was 45.99 for a box of 500 9mm 124rn. that went up from last month, when the same box of 500 9mm sold for 26.99.

Anyhow, onward ho. I snapped some pics from a local bullet manufacture this morning while going up to pick up some bullets. Sorry, shitty camera phone pics.

Here's how bullets start life. Lead ignots. let me show you them.

they are then melted and made into lead rolls depending on caliber.

then the spools get loaded into one of these bullet making machines. These same machines were used back in WW2 and run 14 hours a day spitting out bullets every second.

stacks and stacks of Akron bins with raw lead bullets

    then they get plated

    after plating

this is their QC and counting and boxing department...

and the end product, and the reason why I'm here this morning. :) My bullet order.

I was shown some pretty funky things while I was there chatting with their sales lady, one of the things that really sparked my interest was PLASTIC BULLETS! Imagine making your own bullets AT the range utilizing very simple hand tools.

Anyhow, that was my morning. This is what 25,000 bullets, or $2200 looks like.

I'm hoping at least until next spring. :x:

As for price, let's just say I almost felt bad how much I paid for them. I got a good laugh seeing the price for them just down the street at Sportco, which is a warehouse retail store.

    It's a hook up from a friend that's a sponsored shooter.

    Actually, that's a little off. I also several different calibers. 115gr HP, .38 154gr, 180gr fp, 230gr .45.

Per my Bill of Lading, it was 512 lbs.

But %70 of the order does consist of 9mm and .40. All destined for the breach of my glock.

lol, I wasn't really planning on taking pics because I've been in there before, I just thought "some" on WMD may want to take a peek of the goings on of a bullet factory.

Didn't realize some wanted to use it as their background or anything. :p

but here you go, just in case you do. lol

Yup! 96 Merc 8hp 2stroke. Fires on the first stroke every time! Many a salmon have been caught trolling on that 2stroker.

92' Johnson v4. I rebuilt it when I repowered my boat from the 50hp Mariner it came with. I had to re-locate my fuel cells to the bow to get the little monster to fit back there. My boat ir only rated for 90hp.

It gets up on plane in no time flat and cruises at 28-30mph. If it's properly trimmed out I can get it up to 42-45mph. I just zip buy my buddy in his 150 Mercs in his 21' Trophy. The little fucker can get out of the hole like a bullet out of a barrel. :wiggle:

I've taken this boat out beyond Tatoosh island and over the columbia bar a few times riding some 20' rollers out to the great blue.

Next to guns and golf, fishing and boating is my next biggest passion.

Here's a super old website I created a long time ago outlining some of the restorations I did to this old boat, most of the links are broken, but you get the gist.

:bigthumb: I wish I had the skills to do all that work, still nothing better than something you did all the work on yourself.

I'd love to get back on the water, so damn peaceful out there.

You don't feel so alive than when you are out there 15-20 miles off shore and it's you and the ocean. Talk about a test of man and machine. Just like reloading, there's nothing that tests the confidence of your build. Details can mean the difference between life and death.

Columbus, OH. So you don't have a clue what crossing the west coasts most dangerous coastal bar is about.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_Bar

When you put the lives of 5 of your friends in the build of a small craft you built from the Bow, back crossing this particular bar. Talk to me. :eek3: Not a feat many can claim my friend.
