Is anyone else reading Steven Erikson's series A Tale of the Malazan Book of the Fallen?

I have to say that this is a very impressive fantasy series. He has quickly become one of my favorite authors, right up there with George R R Martin and Guy Gavrial Kay.

Erikson has a different approach to the fantasy genre. He doesn't layout the background of his world right away. He doesn't give you an all encompassing map. So you learn about the world with each viewpoint character. It's not an easy read, I've found myself turning off the TV so I can focus on what is going on.

I'm only on the 4th book (which is the latest release here in the States, there are more books available in Canada and Europe I believe) and characters that had minor roles in the previous books seem to have more importance now.

An excellent read, one I highly recommend to my fellow Fantasy fans here. :wavey:
