but then a larger part of me wants the 1DsmkII and a 1DmkII

but then my wallet cries out and tells me to wait for for the 5DmkII to come out so the OG 5d's come down in price.

Had a friend that bought the origional 1Ds. He sold it after a week and got a 5D. Waiting 4 seconds for an image preview FTL.

1ds is obviously the better body, the the 5d has a cleaner image, especially past iso 400

yup, plan is for a 1d3 this year.

but if you could borrow or rent one of each to try out that would be best. I'm sure I'm a bit biased :o

I did love the viewfinder of the 1ds2, but it couldn't keep up with me (large files) and was noisier. AF didn't seem as good either

I really wish that Nikon had something similar to the 5D. I don't want to have to shell out $5000 for FF.

    5D is mad sexy.

ive used a 1dmk2n and a 5d. havent used the 1dsmk2. but the 1dsmk2's cost throws it way out of my range anyways.

im not entirley sure on why i want FF either. but i do know i love the viewfinder in them. 5d's viewfinder was like heaven compared to my 30d.

actually, a real question. do you see a large image quality difference between the 1ds2 and the 1d2? i guess it just comes down to the IQ of the 2 cameras.

the 1ds was noticeably noisier, but then again the file is larger, so you aren't blowing it up as much. If you do mostly low light I'm guessing you want the 5d/1ds3/1d series

if its mainly under iso 800 I'm guessing that could be your best bet :dunno:

Massive difference, Basically if you dont use primes with it, the ds2 kicks you in the balls for disrespecting it's famiry! Using the 85 1.2L and 50 1.2L lenses was a wakeup call to put it simply. Amazing :eek3:

Also, the AF between 1dsmk2, 1dmk2n..... after using both for a considerable amount of time there is no difference to me.

Noise Handling too is exceptional on the 1ds2, As good as the 5D I would say and better than the 30/40D etc. Mine never leaves ISO100 anyway but on the odd occasion ISO1600 was definately useable.

sweet, so if i dont use primes, i should go for 5d or 1dmkii, right?

i just wonder if the 5d or the 1dmkii is the better multipurpose camera

Depends what you shoot, for me I'm usually in a studio so color accuracy and a large resolution for big prints is a priority.

1dmk2 if you want the speed and AF points

5D is just a pleasure to use, I love them still. Really simple and produce great images. I'd say it's a cult camera for sure.
