well worth the $70 that's for sure, and if it fades after a year or two that just gives me a reason to hang up new and different pictures in my living room

now that I've got the colorspace issue figured out (thanks mojito) I couldn't be happier with it :coold:

i have a Canon MP500 printer, and found this site:
    http://www.kyson.yangportal.com/ip4200.htm

    How's that look for pricing?

what's the difference between "dye ink" and "pigment ink"? I only print pictures for friends & family on Canon photo paper. Not sure which type of ink I would want (and why).

that seems about right for the price

I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between inks, you might be able to find something on google :hs:

dye based ink is water soluble, and gives better color. Pigment based inks are water resistant, but definitely do not look as good. This is on my experience selling printers for a couple years in the past.

The R220 is a nice machine too for the price. Epson and Canon are very equal in quality, with HP producing dog shit pictures

    Great, thanks.

Any idea if one lasts longer than another (uv protection or something)?

All of my printed photos either go in an album or in a frame. Just curious if one of the two inks will look better longer. :dunno:

I know you can't mix the two once it's all set up unless you clean out the tubes and stuff, that's why I wrote it on the inside of the printer so I don't forget

quality / brand is probably more important than pigment / dye. if you go and get the cheapest shit it just wont work.

Most ink companies are claiming 100 year life on their stuff now. Based on the nature of the inks, pigment I guess would technically last longer. But they are both going to last a long long time so I never worry about that.
