BMW is now offering armored vehicles. They have two different types, with the strongest one able to withstand small explosions. I'm not sure if this is a repost or not. Here is the link.

    thats REALLY old.

I remember watching a special on a "high-security" model of the 7-series at least 5 years ago... All about how it had lexan windows, and kevlar panels

They had armored options through an outsourced company on their 750il. My uncle bought an armored 750 from some diplomat after 9/11.

Sure, it seems like a good idea, but you know half the market for these armored sedans are people who should be shot dead anyway. Drug lords, tyrants, non-moderate politicians, etc...

Just what BMW needs to do. Sell out even more by adding more weight/luxury and making the car slower. BMW has lost it's soul.

It's not like they're armoring every single car they've ever produced. You can't go out and buy an armored Z4 or something. . . :slap:

Last time I checked if you buy an armored convertible you are what is reffered to as a "dumbass" . They've been doing this for years as mentioned and through third party companies you can get anything with wheels done up to withstand an ambush typically for 70-120k depending on the vehicle and how much you want done to it.

Ain't got shit on the popemobile.

That X5 they list is fucking weak. Only stops a .44mag!?!?
Hopefully no one tries a rifle on it.

mercedes always has been one of the world's largest suppliers of armored vehicles. they just dont advertise them.

currently you can get e-class, s-class and g-wagens in several armored versions directly from the factory.

think about it, most governments around the world use mercs, shitloads of diplomats etc.
