Ok, so I made a thread a while ago asking about a new lens. Everyone on here said to just spend $1000+ and get a good lens. I honestly dont feel like spending that much right now but I would like to get a lens with a decent amount of zoom. I would like something around $300 that isnt gonna be a complete piece of shit. I was looking at these three as possible lenses and wanted to know what you guys thought:

All of them are driving distance from my house so I can go pick them up. Im going to the Raceway park this weekend and it would be nice to have them by then. Which would you suggest out of the three or if not these, what direction should I go. Im not crazy about buying used things so anything new around that price range would be nice. Thanks

Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6. Retails for 199, but you can probably get it cheaper.

What about the "Sigma 28-300mm 3.5-6.3 Aspher IF DG" I saw it for around $250. Any input?

all three of the original lenses are piles of dog shit. I had 2 28-300 Tamrons and they were the softest lenses. either get the more expensive model Nikon 70-300 (I believe its ED glass) or get the Nikon 18-200.

And the 70-300 Sigma like 48 mentioned should be good too.

I was actually re-thinking the whole thing and I was really considering just spending the extra money and getting the Nikon 18-200. Im thinking, if I get one now Im just gonna wanna get the 18-200 later on anyway so I might as well spend it all at once and get the better one. My new laptop will have to wait. Does anyone know a good place to get the Nikon 18-200mm?

Theres this place (Cameta Camera) right down my house which is pretty good. The people there are a bunch of dickheads but the prices are pretty good. Im gonna ask there and if not Ill search through Manhattan. Its a lot of money to spend on a lens but I rationalize it by knowing that its the only lens Ill need for a very long time. Thanks for your replies.

Finally, a smart one willing to spend extra on quality glass rather than inferior glass =)

Check fredmiranda.com Buy/Sell since you'll have problems finding this part in stock brand new.
