I was between 4-6 ft (estimate) for most of them

the lens is the Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 DG Macro, I pretty much use it at F8-11, as anything bigger produces soft images (I don't think I have 1 shot that I find is sharp at 5.6) but not bad for a $180 lens

If you need to, use ISO 800 or ISO 1600, and I find myself keeping the shutter speed at least 1/320 (at anything over 200mm) but my sharpest ones are at 1/500

Soon it will be time for the 100-400L :naughty:

If I had a ton of money I would

although, I have been thinking of keeping my sigma (for now) and getting the 400/5.6 and eventually get the 70-200 2.8 IS

I find myself out a 300 almost all the time.

But I read somewhere with the 100-400, with IS on you can hand hold as low as 1/60 at 400 (obviously a still subject)
