I'm still a little shocked how every big critic rated it 5 stars :ugh:

Cronenberg, Maria Bello, Ed Harris, Aragorn. I mean even of they just sat there on camera and farted it would be better directed and better acted than most of the shit that is out nowadays.

Plus it's a real well made movie. I love how visceral the violence was, especially the old palm to the face move. It's like when Ebert said that in one movie there was all this violence that just seemed fake and yet the worst thing to watch was a upclose shot of a papercut.

I bought it without seeing it first. The reason I bought it is because I love Cronenberg, but I really have to say no here. It just wasn't that great of a film considering the standards I had for it after reading critic reviews. I mean, there were an insane number of 4 and 3.5 star reviews. I didn't think it was amazing; it was simply an interesting film with some interesting moments, nothing to warrant a purchase.

interesting flick, but as many have already stated - overrated.

worthy rental, but not worth a purchase in my books.

I thought it was pretty good... though the ending left a little something to be desired... still good

Definitely a rent. Decent movie, little odd, but altogether well done.

I agree. Would've made the movie 10 times better with a different ending. But not a bad movie at all.

the support acting was awful. the two bad guys that kick off the movie were fucking horrible and the son was a little bitch.

the really long, awkward sex scenes were retarded, too.

other than that, i'd give it a meh.

The first 70% of the movie was just way too slow. By the time something actually happened, the movie was over. You will end the movie going....okkkkkk that was not worth my time.

    Anyone read the book?

I thought it was going to be better than that. It was a great idea that wasnt very well executed.
