First is my backyard. The squirrel was at a local garden. I gotta get me some squirrel feeders they are so fun to watch.

both pics are completely washed out, and for the subject matter the first one should be extremely vibrant (most people go for this anyway)

Catch the squirrel and keep it as a pet!

It was probably 1600 when I took it and then center of the frame is probably 285 degrees so basically west. Its as it looks from my yard, but I do agree that its pretty odd looking and later by maybe an hour or so might be better. Morning might work a lot better, but I hate mornings and get up around noon unless I'm going to work:)

for the fall color shots i posted, I was facing roughly NE, so the light was striking them perfectly at about 1500-1600hrs to just make them light right up... from that angle, late morning would probably be best... 0900-1000 might light it up perfectly for you.

But to get the light to strike the trees in such a way as to get them to be vibrant, he needs to be out there at a different time...

agreed, early dawn might make an interesting shot, just as the sun comes over the horizon and splits the shadow on those trees, that burst for the first few seconds always turns out something unique if you can expose for it correctly
