A calorie is a fucking calorie, right?

  1. So someone tonight was trying to tell me there was such thing as an "empty calorie" similar to how there are "empty carbs". :hsugh:

    Is this fucking true? We were discussing how soda had 300 cals and that seemed like a lot for a drink. I'm losing weight like woh and I can drink a good amount but not really eat a lot of food...(I'm sick) so in order to not lose a ton of weight, maybe a soda or two a day could help get my calories up? :dunno: Or will I just end up being a skinny fat person? I went from 190 and now I'm at 175 in like 1.5-2 months. Bleh. I look manorexic. I'm 6'4". Any ideas on what I could eat thats small but high in calories?

    peanut butter, mix olive oil into stuff, top everything with cheese

    and the nutrition in your food actually does matter a little - 1000 calories of big mac is going to be less good for you than 1000 calories of home-made sandwhich, even if the macros are exactly the same

    damn right... a calorie isnt a calorie if its going to give you diabetes or harden your arteries... always eat clean bulking or not!

    More important to eat clean when bulking.

    During a deficit it doesn't matter as muchh

    Mate, I'd probably be baking myself some 'brownies' and going to town on some food.

    If that fails, get the nicest whey protein you can find and pound that.

    A calorie is a unit for measuring energy, nothing more :ugh: Its the macros of where those calories come from that is going to determine body composition.

    IIRC a calorie is a unit of heat equal to the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree

    go with dominos, papa johns.. anythign fresh baked if your going to do pizza, the freezer microwave pizzas loaded with as much trans fats as fast food french fries

    to use the big mac example, if you're comparing it to something with the exact same macro breakdown for something "home made" or some shit, there's basically little to no difference, contrary to what people want you to think :o

    you know that McD's and BK add hydrogenated oils in their meat so they dont decompose while waiting in a truck or for some fat ass to munch it down

    people focus too much on minutiae and overlook the fact that what they really need to pay attention to is their calories and their macros.

  24. I forgot all about weight gainers....I'll try to pick one up today...any recommendations? I'm just trying to not turn into a tiny bitch again. :o

    I'll be sure to keep the other mentioned foods in mind as well. :o

    Weight g ainers are a waste of money considering you could just throw oats and pb and olive oil in a blender with some protein and milk or something.
