I pick up my Hi-Point C9 next week. (yeah yeah...)

From what I've read, for the first ~500 rounds it likes FMJ instead of hollow points. What's some good ammo? 120 grain, non P+ or +P+.

Winchester White Box has always worked great for me and you can't beat the price.

Hipoint, eh? Big bucks. Why didn't you just save another $5 and get a Lorcin?

It's already pieces of Hi Point, they're just still currently held together with duct tape and bubble gum. :mamoru:

Read some reviews. It's ugly. It's innexpensive. It's accurate. It's reliable. For range shooting, I don't need anything more. :dunno:

I agree. Shoot what you can afford. And to be honest I've heard the newer Hi Points are fairly reliable.

Accurate and reliable I'm not so sure about....most of the reviews I've read have said the sites are quite poor and accuracy is adequate for self defense, but certainly not one would call an accurate gun. A large number of people seem to have jhp feeding problems as well. Its better than lorcin and the like though. Top of the heap while still being bottom of the barrel....

Anyway there is no such thing as 120gr 9mm ammo, go to walmart and buy the 100 pack of winchester 9mm 115gr fmj, it comes in a white box and is like $13.xx If you have an academy sports go there and buy a box of blazer 9mm 115gr fmj.

If you ever want to use it for self defense and not just playing at the range I'd run at least 200 rounds of your defensive ammo through it without a flaw before I trusted it with it.

All that has to do with is experience on this forum. Having an av does not make you smarter about guns. Listen to the advice. Hipoints are trash, save your money or buy a nicer gun. Simple.

But if you do decide to get it anyway... the cheapo Walt-Mart Winchester 100 rnd box for like $12 is the way to go. 115 gr I think.

It's not a personal defense gun. I wouldn't be buying it if I was going to trust it with my life. It's fine for plinking.

The white box Win. ammo is great for that. Thats what I pick up when I take my G17 to the range and fire off 500 rounds or so in a couple hours. Costs me around $60. Now the key is finding a Wal-Mart that actually has a lot of boxes in stock. Thats always hard for me for some reason.
