i was driving my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee yesterday when the alert for SERVICE 4WD SWITCH Came on....i have not had this come on before since i got it....i am planning on taking it in to a mechanic to have them look at it, but i wanna know if anybody has an idea about what the problem could be......any help would be appreciated...

    other info:
95 JGC, 148000miles, drives in 4AWD most of the time

sometimes when i am making sharp turns, the front of the car kinda grinds and the tires slip like they dont wanna go....so i have to take some turns slowly or take it wide....could this be related

your viscous coupling is bad.... good time to swap it out for a 242 transfer case.

the swap will be cheaper... since the VC alone will cost about 800... then add labor...

yupyup, signs of a bad VC. If you check out Jeepsunlimited.com, you'll find all the info you need on the 242 swap.

THEN, go to www.transfercases.com and have one custom built for your needs ;)
